Oldie Composers

OLDIE COMPOSERS is a UK wide songwriting competition, open to the older generation, to showcase their talent and to raise money for Barnardo's.

That most of the songwriters, including myself, on this page are of mature age and might be interested in a songwriting competition aimed at our peer group.

Get Moshe to dig up the verses we wrote about Ol' Willie Nelson, then you can put then to a tune :).

PS.
Found them......... plus a comment for the sleeve from Ol' GR.

I still like this one.
Not as outlaw as I think

Willie Nelson thinks that he's an outlaw
but in a showdown he'd be the first to blink.
He'd just be too damned stoned,
Left all his brains at home
So I reckon he's not as outlaw as he thinks

Chorus:
When you're an outlaw
you've a hard row to hoe.
but we dont care what folk say
We just double park on Music row.

DAC thinks that he's the toughest
But he spends hours doing his hair in links
While he's there trying to look pretty
I'd sneak in pretty nifty
So I reckon he's not as outlaw as he thinks

Chorus
Instrumental break

Bridge:
Got off the Nashville merry-go-round.
got right into that Outlaw sound.

Waylon Jennings sure is gone now
But back in the day he was tough.
I'll go a round with Gretchen Wilson
but she'd drink me under the table
So I guess I'm not as outlaw as I thought.

Chorus X2 and fade
