Probably a new name to many but accordion player Dick Contino was once a massive star and heart throb, not something you'd normally associate with the accordion!! I first listened to him after reading a short story by crime writer James Ellroy about Contino in the 1950s. Not particularly country but does touch on western swing in places.

I love this bit:
With muscled arms built up with barbells and Charles Atlas’s dynamic tension exercises, Mr. Contino played the accordion like a rock star. His fingers flew over the keys. Elvis-like, he wiggled, shook and swaggered.
