A fixture of Saturday sports telly for many, many years.

He had a very big chin.

My first thoughts when I heard of him passing was of him saying "by my chinny chin chin"

He was a giant of a figure in football. As leader of the PFA, he broke the £20 maximum wage for players; as manager he introduced the first electronic scoreboard, the first colour matchday programme and the first to show a live match via CCTV on large screens at a football ground. He has been credited with the introduction of the three points for a win system and with the idea of using a panel of football pundits.
One time he was a match and the linesman took ill. The referee put out a message on the tannoy asking if there were any qualified refs in the stands. Hill came down (wearing a hideous light blue jump suit as I remember) and ran the line for the rest of the game. We will not see the likes of him again.
Country is a state of mind, not a state of America.
