EASY RIDER</center>
I have known Colin Fidoe & Geoff Bate for quite a number of years now and although they do not seem to get up North very much they are well known not only farther South but abroad also.
A radio DJ’s casual comment to “Easy-Rider” – Colin Fidoe & Geoff Bate – about how they sounded like a mixture of The Everly Brothers and Alabama, both of whose music they had always admired, and neither of whose music they performed, set the seed in their minds of forming a tribute band, as a separate project, an extra string to their bow.
They had already been working together for five years as a duo, so it seemed natural to go for a tribute to the Everlys.

Their duo Easy Rider are firm favourites but of late they are better known as…………..

The Everlys Experience
Starring Colin Fidoe & Geoff Bate as Don & Phil Everly

Since their launch on 1 November 2000 at the Midlands Tribute & Look-Alike Awards Ceremony, they have acquired bookings not only as a superb self-contained duo, but also on occasion with their band " Re-Union " at a variety of venues, from festivals and theme weekends, to cabaret and theatre, also TV and radio in the UK and Europe, appearing with top international acts such as The Bellamy Brothers, Smokie, Quo, Union Gap, Fortunes, Marty Wilde, Swinging Blue Jeans, Searchers, Madeline Bell and also with Albert Lee & Pete Wingfield, both of them members of the real Everly Brothers band since 1983.
Because of the influence on them in their early years, when The Everly Brothers had a long string of Top Ten hits, Colin & Geoff even found that they instinctively knew many of the words of the songs, which had been stored away in their memories without them even realising it.

“Because of our ages”, said Colin, “the obvious choice was to represent the more mature Everly Brothers, so we decided to use the repertoire and the “look” of that legendary 1983 Reunion Concert”.

When they first began kicking around the idea and trying out a few songs, they had no clear plan of who would be Don and who would be Phil. After a few sessions, it just seemed to pan out, so that Colin felt right as Don and Geoff felt comfortable as younger brother Phil.
“It’s lucky it happened that way”, said Geoff, “otherwise Colin would have had to go on a diet, and I would have had to put on quite a few pounds, as Don Everly was quite heavy at that time!”

Attention has been paid to every detail : hairstyles, suits, replica guitars, double goose-neck mic stand, the brothers’ mannerisms, not to mention that old Kentucky drawl ! The band which occasionally backs the guys consists of a group of like-minded musicians, totally focussed on recreating that memorable 1983 reunion concert sound and look.

Their tribute CD “Dream…” produced & recorded by Ian (Sammy) Sands at Vaq Shaq studios goes a long way to prove this, with several of the tracks already being included on Michael Dark’s new compilation CD series “Honkytonk Style”.
Although not originally intended as a line dance album, several tracks are already big hits on the dance floor. The 15 track CD “Dream...” is ideal for both dancers & listeners alike, as is their new 3 track single “ Release Me…” of which this track is now on Stuart Cameron’s “Best Of British Country Hot Disc 2005” CD.
