The Return of Thunderbirds

Most of the regular members seem to be of a similar age, so I'm sure you'll all have watched Thunderbirds as a kid. 50th anniversary this year and a new version due on our screens in the spring. And this is what the ThunderBlokes will look like! Yikes!!

L-R = Virgil, Scott, Alan, Gordon and John. Yes, this dates me.
Actually, I'm not sure how this makes me feel. On one hand it will be good for a whole new generation to experience but on the other, being a grandparent now, i've seen the animated versions of Postman Pat and Fireman Sam and something seems 'missing.' But then, they are made for kids and a good story is a good story. I'm sure I'll be seeing the new Thunderbirds whether I want to or not.

I understand that the spacecraft, vehicles, etc., are being filmed as models as per the original series and the characters animated around them.

In that case it could turn out to be a win-win. The strongest part of the original Thunderbirds was the model work while the weakest part was the limitations of the marionettes.

If it's as good as the latest "Thomas The Tank Engine" animations, without Ringo Starr narrating, it'll be great.

What was wrong with Ringo's narration? I thought it fit the style of the series.

Sorry, I wrote that wrong. I meant that the new series has somebody else doing the narration instead of Ringo Starr.

Yeah, I think he's moved on from that anyway.
