Hi everyone...

As newbies returning to the UK and trying to get a leg, finger, arm, foot on to the UK circuit I'm trying to find out what types of Country people like to listen to now in the CMC's? We have been told old stuff doesn't work any more its all about the new stuff but then people say you cant beat good old country classics so I thought I would put it out there what do you like to hear? :flasher:

The ones I go to have a broad mix, some I go to its purely oldies and classic country, and the crowd reflects this, then I can go up to Fort San Antone and its bang up to date modern Nashville country. The majority, in my experience tend to do classic country.

Personally, I would recommend that you widen your repertoire to include enough of new, old and linedance tracks to enable you to play to any audience you might encounter. I would also recommend that when you do get a booking at a club, ask the person involved what kind of music the club expects, then you can go forearmed with the right material. Btw, despite what you might read in here about not doing covers, most clubs prefer hearing songs they know and can sing along to, although you can throw a few self-penned numbers in now and again. Good luck.

Camsgrandad is quite correct, covers are what a lot of people want to hear.

Yes totally agree we only do covers as that's what most people want to hear.
Great to get the information and your spot on about asking the club what they want forearmed is forewarned as they say.

Thanks for the info it really is appreciated
