Re: 2015 British Country Music Awards Winners

You got it in one Peter.

I wish only the best for any new or young artistes trying to make their way in this country scene of ours.

I just feel very old at times LoL

Best to you and yours

B

Re: 2015 British Country Music Awards Winners

Don't want to get into the whole 'awards' debate (again) but have to reply I am 'the guy in the vid' and have never hired session guys for 'bigger gigs' whatever they are? I have always had my band with me since I started playing at 17 years old, and that wasn't yesterday! btw, WE have never been no...

Re: John Jennings

Hey Smudger

JJ was Chapin's rock and without him she wouldn't be where she is today (her words, not mine).

Privileged to have called John a friend, and both my wife and I shared many laughs and good times with him.

A truly gifted musician, his passing left me so sad over the weekend.

Brian Hughes and his Band LIVE

For anyone interested, I will be playing a one off show at Glasgow's Grand Ole Opry on Sunday 29 November at 7pm. The show is called a 'Concert For Amy' with all proceeds going to the Princess Royal Maternity Neo-Natal Unit Glasgow, who took such good care of Amy during her short life. Joining me on...

Re: Count Arthur Strong

My kind of humour Kev.

It has been a while since I guffawed like I did at the street fight scene.

Look forward to more CAS

Re: Frustration with UK acts

It's a free country (I think) and people are entitled to buy whatever they wish, just my own opinion on 'done to death tracks' endlessly rolled out on these CDs. I only used Tougher Than The Rest, as a Springsteen aficionado, it pains me to hear the great man's music being, again in my opinion, murd...

Re: Frustration with UK acts

Thank you both. It frustrates me to hear this Peter, the acts should be ashamed of themselves as they only serve to confirm the amateurish industry (!) British Country Music is seen to be. I have seen many acts' CDs for sale and for the most part, are poor quality packaging full of standard covers, ...

Re: Frustration with UK acts

Personally, I have always, and continue to despatch purchased items within 24 hours as this reflects the professional environment we should ALL aspire to. Solid business sense to keep your customers satisfied and encourage repeat sales. Saddens me to hear of, and see such practices. B

Re: Bob Harris

'Legends Of Country'...............Please tell me this a joke and that Bob Harris did not give that track airtime.

It's an insult to British country music artistes striving to be taken seriously.

Does beg the question who they are and how much money does it take to get that drivel on Radio 2?

Re: Best British Country Acts

Backhanders Moshe? Without being disrespectful, I am not sure you know anything about the pitching business. What do you think record labels do to get their acts airplay? If it was talent only, then so many others deserving would be stars today. It's called the music BUSINESS. If you truly believe s...

Re: Best British Country Acts

Interesting points Livewirer however nothing has changed my mind and I stand by what I said. What you may or may not be aware of is Ward Thomas have the backing of their extremely rich parent who has spent an enormous amount of money to get them to where they are at the moment. It takes thousands up...

Re: Hayley Oliver Band - ABINGER GROVE

Nigel, it was me who made the comment on the most money should be spent on promotion, which in turn was a direct quote along with others from Mike Curb in Nashville when I was fortunate enough to have a chat with him years back. Any serious musician would know quality should never be compromised, ho...

Re: Hayley Oliver Band - ABINGER GROVE

Couldn't agree more with you Livewirer, NO money to be made for British artistes' recordings. Moshe I would doubt Hayley is making a living off her music, please take it from me a band on the club / festival scene here in the UK cannot survive on gigs / sales alone. There is simply not enough intere...

Re: Brian Hughes Windmills Anniversary Show

Hey Smudger As a fellow Scot, you know it is alien to us 'blowing our own trumpet, so will keep it short and leave it to others who were there to offer reviews. Full house, all age groups, band were on form, Forrest did his thing. Electric atmosphere and rousing crowd reception. You would have loved...
