Re: Hannah Johnson's open letter to the BCMA

Hi Nickytt Back in the day, I have no idea what the aspirations of a country band were as had no interest in the genre at that time. Before social media AND karaoke, live music was exactly that, you lived or died by your talent, many did both! But you got out there and tested your chops against othe...

Re: Hannah Johnson's open letter to the BCMA

Hi Nickytt I repeat I have no affiliation to the BCMA and you are obviously unaware of my persona should you think I wouldn't ruffle any feathers lol. When I was 19 learning my chops in the Glasgow rock bars, I was confronted by a punter wanting us to play a certain song. When told we didn't do it, ...

Re: C2C 2018

Nail on the head there for me Peter. They are ALL generic. I challenge anyone to give me a singer with original voice/delivery and I will reference them to someone else and no doubt better. B

Re: Hannah Johnson's open letter to the BCMA

Hi Nickytt, I wasn't referring to just country music when I spoke of the music business and its practices. I have done this a long time and speak from experience so without being disrespectful to Hannah, or anyone for that matter, the naive comment I feel is justified. The world has changed now and ...

Re: Hannah Johnson's open letter to the BCMA

Naive, despite pertinent questions, as there is an underlying issue with this artist and a member of th BMCA. It's the music business Hannah, nothing is as it seems, believe it or not there IS backstabbing, ass licking and threats, both verbal and physical. It's how you deal with it that will define...

Same Old Same Old!!!

TV adverts for rehashed compilations of country/Christmas/etc albums or 'celebrities' singing their 'all time fav songs'. GRRRRR... We independent artists don't have the media machine behind us but still have quality products to sell, SO, an appeal to everyone out there to break the mould this festi...

New Album from Brian Hughes

I have just released my 5th 'studio' album ANGEL ROOM BABY which I recorded at home playing all the instruments myself (with a few exceptions). It is an experiment I wished to carry out to judge reaction and sales of such a production against many thousands of pounds/dollars spent in recording studi...

Re: Charging at the door for midweek gigs?

Entry prices are a real bug bear for me. People pay £7-8 for a packet of cigarettes, £4 for a beer but ask a reasonable entry fee for a live country act and there's hell to pay. £2-3 to see a band, are you kidding me? Psychology suggests you pay that money then you'll get what that's worth! Get real...

Re: Country to Country 2017

Playing on a pop-up stage in Glasgow on the Saturday night are: Lewis Capaldi The Miss's Tenement and Temple The Step Brothers Never heard of any of them. The first 3 are on YouTube and are SO dreary. No way would I class them as country - more like folk/pop/something or other. Who the heck chooses...

Remembrance Day Song COMING HOME

During my solo singer/songwriter shows I put in this song which seems to touch most people.

I hope you can have a listen.
